Recently i sent over 1k plus troops to take over Carthage, guess what they let out of the city gates? ELEPHANTS. 5 elephants came charging at my men,guess what i had at my side only hastatis,archers, velites and some calvary units. So what was i gonna do? I sent the velites skirmishers to go after the elephants, i also sent archers to rain down arrows at them and also sent hastatis to throw javelins at them. After 2 minutes of fighting i only managed to take down a single elephant,and the groups of elephants were actually retreating back to the walls when i finally managed to kill one of those hideous creatures. I took the oppourtunity to charge at the city gates when the elephants raced back to the city, and guess what?? the elephants charged at me again, killing hundreds of my man all over my moniter screen. One by one my man was flying like superman, it was nice to see the scene actually haha.Somehow or another the elephants retreated and never came back for me, maybe the overwhelming numbers of my troops scared it and what i saw was 2 elephants dead on the ground. I finaly managed to conquer carthage eventually with large losses but it was a fight worth remembering.
